Bishop Makil was laid to rest beside the altar of St. George Forane church, Edackat. 

On 23^rd April 2014, in accordance with the permission granted by the Archbishop of Kottayam, Mar Mathew Moolakkatt, the tomb was opened in the presence of the diocesan tribunal, medical experts etc. and the remains were taken out, identified, placed in a new coffin and buried anew in the new tomb, at the centre of the St. George’s Forane Church, Edackat.
